Finally the Lunar New Year holidays come to an end and everything is back to clockwork.
Today also mark the first day of work at the new office. Hmm...feeling a little loss and intimidated. Kinda miss the old colleagues...kind of lonely with most of the new colleagues much older than me. When being introduced to them..they must all be wondering what is this young boy doing here...Haha..feel like I'm in an old folks home! Just kidding ;-) Guess I'm now in a different playing field in my working life. Now I'm suppose to be playing with the big boys...hahaha

Importance...
I guess it is really true that one man's meat may be another's poison. What is important to you may not be important or even deem trivial to another...I guess to each his own. Maybe it's always me and my failure to communicate...
Well, today is 正月初七-人日. It's also 立春. Spring actually starts today. The NEW year finally arises...

Before 33
A few events mark the last day before I turn 33.
Finally
Finally the day to move on arrives.
Finally packed and cleared out of my cube.
Finally ready to move on professionally.
Did not feel sad about leaving the job...but some how relieved the day is finally here. Maybe 7.5 years was just too long.
Touched
Touched by the well-wishing by many I bid my farewell.
Touched by the gift the team handmade...it will be hanging in my new office.
All Pass
Ready go!
Sprint...Grab...Sprint...Drop...Sprint...Grab...SPRINT....
5 points!!
It was like music to my ears! YES! Finally cleared my IPPT cycle having to fail shuttle run (yes...shuttle run) at the 11th hour...never felt so relieved
Hmm...but another cycle starts tomorrow..*sigh*

A friendship lost
Tomorrow is a friend's birthday...
Though we seldom keep in contact since after junior college, I still treated him as a very good friend, at least I treated him as a very close friend of mine. Someone whom I'll be able to, be glad to see and rattle on and on for hours about our lives even though we didn't stay in touch through the years. Then he left for his studies in Australia 1996 and did very well. Subsequently he went on to work in Germany in 2000.
He call my dad and asked for my contact when I was working in France in 2000 and we got in-touch again. We even agreed to meet up for the autumn in Germany but after the summer thereafter our contacts were lost again and we never met up.
In 2002 through a mutual friend and his best buddy since childhood days, I last know he was working in Hong Kong but didn't get the chance to get his contact.
4 years from then....I did not know where he is or how he was doing...Tomorrow will be his birthday so I decided to try to get his contact. To my surprise, he got married in June 2004 in Bali to a French girl. I'm glad for him really as he finally found someone to share his life with. But then again I was some how disappointed. Suddenly I realised I wasn't that close a friend to him afterall. I was wondering why I wasn't notified of his big day and be part of his big step in life? Maybe to him I was merely a friend.
While we never keep in touch all these years, I thought our friendship will never end...but somehow today I felt that our friendship was lost...

I am 32 going on 33...
Had an interesting conversation with my mum earlier when I reach home...
Mum : Heard you are changing your job.
Me : Yeah, after the chinese new year.
Mum : How come never tell anyone?!
Me : Told dad the other day already.
Mum : How come you quit your job without asking your dad first?!!
Me : I'm already 32 going to 33...think I can make the decision myself!
Mum : As long as you are still staying under the roof with us...you are still a kid! So should have asked our opinion first!
Me : *eyes roll*
Hmm...when you are 33 years old and still staying with your paraents means you are in Neverland? An eternal kid forever? Maybe it's time to move out......

Happy New Year
A Big Leap Ahead
2006...a new year dawns. While I'm just warming up after a long break and still wondering what it holds for me this year.
In a span of 3 days, I got a call for job interview, went through a round of interview, met the CEO, had job offer, decided to take the leap, tendered my resignation and accepted the job offer. Just 6 days into the New Year and it had been the most eventful days of my professsional life.
It was an emotional roller coaster and if I dare say, nerve-racking and stressful. First I was feeling happy on the opportunity of a job interview, nervous during the interview and meeting the big man, in a state of shock to be given the offer on the spot just after a 2 hour interview, confused and undecided about my fit into the new position, scared and needing to summon all the courage (i dunno why though) to tender my resignation, relieved upon signing the letter of offer but I now...I feel weired...f**king weird...
Had always thought that tendering my resignation would be as easy as the bits and bytes, but somehow I was in a state of loss...it was rather scary in fact. I had the letter ready the first thing in the morning but it took me till after lunch before i had enough courage to send the letter in. Guess many thoughts went through my mind...the questions on whether I was irresponsible, am I leaving at a bad time, am I letting down the team whom I have grown so fond working with. Of course there are exasperations in the office...but am I making the right decision.
Since I got the offer, these questions went through my mind again and again like a broken record on duracells repeating over and over and over...Finally I decided to follow my gut feel and take the leap. However, I still feel weird...I'm happy at the same time I'm feeling sad and uneasy...guilty at times but relieved at the same time....but for sure I would definitely be missing all the friends...Hopefully the friendship does not end here with the end of our professional relationship....

Musings of the NKF Saga
Some like him lot
Some like him low
Some like him in the dock 6 months old...
Hmmm......
Just wonder what did he do to really "brain-washed" his followers? Maybe it is just so normal in reality, in the real world out there...just like how people in cults are so devoted...just like how suicide bombers sacrificing their lives for "the" worthy cause...
But before public trust can be instilled in the NEW NKF (nice try on the new name), actions must be taken and taken fast. However, I guess (just my guess) a gag order had now been placed on the issue...Well life goes on...

Or the peoplestaying in these wards are purely foreigners??!! Hmmm.....*scratch scratch* I wonder...what's in the name of a nation...a singaporean?

Yes I did it again....
Yes...I did it again...2 months since my last entry...*sigh*
Well...the long weekend is finally ending and it will be back to reality and back into the pressure cooker waiting to explode anytime...Feels like a schoolboy...sad that the the school holiday is over soon and realising i still have lots of holiday homework undone...*aaarggh*
A Minute of Silence
This may come a little late but just feeling sad and loss that a dear friend and a dear colleague passed away of brian cancer last week.
To CM,
It was my great honour to have known you for the last 5 years I'm in the company. Though we are in different divisons, it was fate that brought us to get to know each other. I still remember in 2001 when I just stumbled into your cube to ask you about CPA and the next day you provided me a whole 5 pages of calculations and algorithm u theorised the night before. Since then, you had been a mentor, a councellor, a great friend and lastly a good elder brother to me. You had treated me like a younger brother and a confidante. Telling me about your family and your ambitions, things that go beyond what you would tell your colleague.
I'll never forget your chirpy self when I last visited you in NUH, telling me not to worry and not wanting to worry your wife. But I know she was worried then. I also remembered seeing you back in the office and was happy that you are getting better...but when I last received you SMS when I was down at site, I did not know that it will be the last time we will see each other. I felt that I had not been a good friend to you. Not being there on the 2 occasions that you were down and out.
I wish I could have done more to help you...I did not even fulfil my last promise to buy you lunch. I wish I could do something more now to help your wife and your daughther...But for now I hope you are in a better place and all the pain had stopped. CM, my friend and my good brother...rest and rest well...

Of White Elephants and In Due Time
Hmm...the hoos and haas over 7 white elephants...or was it 8? whatever....is finally over with police promptly investigating into an 'anonymous' complain and now with a stern warning given the curtain is drawn and another good beginning to the residents of Buangkok...but hey...what did happened to the white elephants? It remained a mystery that the police never did recovered the white 'hoodini' elephants *poof*....So the station remain closed and in due time it will opened....hmmm....maybe weeks before the next GE....yeah in due time i'll make it to be able to foresee the future...in due time i'll earn my 1st $100k in life...in due time i'll settle down...in due time i'll be able get old and retire in singapore....in due time....mystery of the year indeed

Procrastination - A thief of Time
Ooops...I did it again...I have procrastinated. And as expected I went into procrastination mode again.
It's been almost 2 whole weeks since my last blog entry...with final NDP rehearsals and many Fireworks fired away, Singapore celebrates another year of independence (and another year richer with ERP on CTE), a newly "elected" president (backed by popular demands from the Gahmen) and yummy piping hot Dim Sum Dollies are soon ending their extended shows...
Wow...so many things had happened in the last 2 weeks of August. Getting older every minute and not a minute wiser nor a minute richer...*sigh*

A Nation in Celebration
A hectic 2 days of meetings and brainstorming in the office with the team left my thoughts empty...or I'm plain lazy to write...
National Day is round the corner again and this year Singapore is celebrating it's 40th year of Independence. Looks like the celebration is getting grander this year and bigger with the traffic coming to stand still every Saturday since like 2 months ago. Maybe I should write something about the day the nation celebrates too :-)
Just a few days back while I was on the phone with one of my colleagues and we suddenly dwelled on the topic of National Day and boy, she was so thrilled that she had gotten tickets to view the Parade live @ Padang with her hubby this 9th Aug. As the conversation progresses over National Day, we realised that both of us had participated in the National Day Parade @ the Padang in 1990. Wow!!! 15 years ago (yeah yeah...I'm old alright?) I was part of the central band (not the SAF parade band and yes I play a musical instrument) and she was part of the central choir just about 5 rows behind me. We were so close (as in proximity) but yet we did not know each other...but then again I was sitting in the 2nd row of the band next to some RGS girls *grin* and she was standing behind those purcussionists (damn those buayas) haha...Well, life is so funny that we got to know each other only 15 years later and now she is a mother of 1 and expecting her 2nd *sigh* haha
Ok 'nuff said and I'm going back to my boring cable programmes and waste my weekend away...
To Singapore, Happy 40th Birthday!! *crinched*

Of ERP on CTE and DotA
ERP on CTE
We have read that traffic between 6-8pm on CTE had smoothen out since the implementation of the evening ERP on CTE...but allow me to think aloud...what about the traffic condition before 6pm and after 8pm?
"It's all about route planning" someone said. Yeah...now we are trapped in traffic jam in the "alternative" routes. Being the usual skeptic, I wonder how long this will last before motorists ran out of patience and got tired of trapping in traffic in their "alternative" routes home. Maybe the S$1 is not even enough to cover the petrol cost spent to seek alternative route home.
"So now you are encourage to leave office earlier to spend time with your family" we heard. Another try to be pro-family? Hmm...wonder how many of us now leave home early and go home later just to avoid paying to cross the gantry. Maybe I'm wrong.
"Your can stagger your timing at work" we are told. Have anyone been encouraged to stagger their working hours? Anyone like to share their experience?
DotA
"-tr -dm" had been the latest addiction just like the media is on local blog bashing. After a hard day at work, we settled ourselves down at our respective stations and trashed it out against one another in another death match. Damn...kenna trashed in DotA again. Man, everyone is getting better by the day at bashing one another up. Wonder if it's a true reflection of our frustration with one another. Die! Die! Die! Hmm...some form of therapy to keep ourselves sane...maybe...

Too old to Blog??!
Hmm...am 32 going on to 33 soon in less than 6 months...wonder if I'm too old to start blogging. After much deliberations, finally decided to join the latest fad, ride the waves and have my own blog.
Some had said to have made great friends here. Some had become famous, went on to become major cyber celebrities and have legion of fans and followers. Some said that blogging is therapeutic and a space to allow one to vent their frustrations in everyday lives...Hmm...this sounds right for me...I needed some therapy.....
Who cares what the New Paper wrote about bloggers lately...I think most of the bloggers' blog I've read, are of everyday people, merely sharing their views, emotions and wanting to speak their mind whether focused or not. Aren't jumping on the bandwagon to feature bloggers and their blogs (the "IN" thing now since the NKF drama), a good try to boost their sale figures?
So here I am, posting my first blog to share my thoughts.
